Sheridan ANZAC Walk

On Thursday 23 April Sheridan Syndicate went for a walk to the Mt Eden War Memorial Hall.  We went to look at the ANZAC and war display in the window and to pay our respects to the soldiers who fought in World War One and World War Two. We looked at the flags in the display and talked about which countries they represented. We also looked at the windows and talked about the army, airforce, navy and the nurses that served in the wars. It was an important for us to pay our respects and commemorate the men and women who gave their lives for us. Please talk a look at the following photos.

Welcome to Term 2!!!!

A huge welcome back to Term 2!!! This week we are focussing on ANZAC Day. During this week we will be learning a lot about ANZAC Day and how we commemorate this special occasion. On Thursday we are going on a walk to the war memorial in Mt Eden, to learn more about how we honour soldiers who died for our country. In the classroom we are making poppies, reading books about Dawn Parades and looking at photos of the different aspects of war. In the school grounds we have made a field of remembrance, using white crosses and we will be having a short ceremony later in the week. Please discuss this special and important event with your children and talk about the following vocabulary: soldier, poppy, army, honour, remember.
